Posted in WINDHAM, New York – A teenager was involved in a fatal ski accident at a New York ski resort on Sunday morning.
Erin Clare Malloy-McArdle, 18, was skiing at the Windham Mountain Ski Lodge in New York around 10 in the morning when she was involved in the accident.
The victim was allegedly skiing in the Lower Warpath Trail and must have lost control and strayed from the path. She entered an area that was heavily wooded and struck a tree.
McArdle was found near the Upper Warpath Trail, which is a significantly difficult course. She was not wearing a helmet and sustained severe head injuries.
Paramedics tended to her at the scene and she was transported to a nearby hospital where she was later pronounced dead.
Authorities say McArdle was not an experienced skier.
According to the resort, the last fatal ski accident happened over 15 years ago.
