Kentucky Deputy Killed in Car Crash

PIKEVILLE, Kentucky – A Pike County Deputy was killed in a car accident on Monday.

Deputy James Thacker, 53, of Elkhorn City, was heading east on U.S. 460 near Belcher at around 9 p.m. when his police cruiser was hit by a Nissan Pathfinder driven by David Childers, 47, of Ashcamp.

Another vehicle, a 2002 Grand Prix driven by Brenda Robinette, of Pikeville, was also involved, although authorities do not know exactly how Robinette was involved in the accident.

Deputy Thacker was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.

The incident is currently under investigation.
