School bus overturns in New Castle; 32 students injured

NEW CASTLE, Delaware – A New Castle County school bus overturned on Wednesday morning on the I-295 northbound ramp to US Route 9.
The bus overturned around 7 in the morning. It was being driven by Arnold Johnson, 50.
Delaware River & Bay Authority police responded to the accident. There were 47 students onboard from Pencader High School and 32 sustained injuries. The students were taken to Christiana Hospital to be treated. They did not incur life-threatening wounds.
According to officials, the driver of the bus did not slow down enough when approaching the ramp and the bus thus flipped over.
The police are continuing an investigation on the incident and are yet to charge the driver with any infractions.
