London, England – An accident near the Olympic Park on Wednesday has claimed the life of a cyclist.
Police are investigating a collision between the cyclist and a media shuttle that took place just before 8 p.m. Wednesday night at the intersection of routes A106 and A12.
Although paramedics rushed to the scene, the cyclist was pronounced dead at the accident site.
Investigators are currently holding a man in custody on suspicion of causing a fatal accident due to dangerous driving. His identity has not been released.
Officials have not released the identity of the victim either, but have released a statement saying he was a 28-year-old man and have stated his next of kin have been informed of the tragedy.
LOCOG, the organizing group of the London Olympics, released a statement saying that “our thoughts are with the cyclist’s family.”
The incident remains under investigation.
