FROSTPROOF — A Kansas couple and their four children were killed June 7 in a plane crash in Polk County.

The family’s single-engine plane came apart and crashed in a remote area. Authorities discovered five bodies at the scene. The body of a 13-year-old boy was not located at the time.

According to police, the boy may have been ejected from the plane while it was crashing. The bodies that were discovered were inside the aircraft; however, there was a large hole in the plane, indicating the possibility that the boy was ejected.

Police identified the victims as pilot Ronald Bramlage, 45, a Kansas businessman, his wife Rebecca Bramlage, 43, and their four children, Brandon, Boston, Beau and Roxanne, ages 8 to 15.

The plane crash occurred around 12:30 p.m. in a clearing in the Tiger Creek Preserve. The aircraft began experiencing problems at an altitude of 26,000 feet but investigators did not know what exactly caused the plane to come apart in the air.
