Posted in WEBSTER, New York — A construction worker was killed by a locomotive that was used to haul debris out of a water-treatment plant in Lake Ontario.
Webster Police are informing the public that the victim fell off the locomotive on Monday in the main artery of a water-treatment plant that is currently under construction near the lake shore.
The victim was not immediately identified, but police say that he was part of a five-man crew tunneling through bedrock to create the treatment plant. The workers were over 100 feet below the bottom of the lake.
The plant is expected to be completed in 2013. It will supply an estimated 50 million gallons of water a day when it is completed in 2013.
Further details have yet to be released.
